We look forward to a new work of art! From the end of November »Public Hybrid« by David Jablonowski enriches the Emscherkunstweg in Dortmund-Schüren.
Jablonowski (*1982, lives and works in Almere/ Amsterdam) was born and raised in Bochum, the Ruhr area is home for him and often also a reference in his artistic work. He is interested in industrial materials, their creation and infrastructures. For the Emscherkunstweg, he has created a hybrid sculptural installation using sandstone and 3D printing technology. For the Emscher Art Trail, he has created a hybrid sculptural installation using sandstone and 3D printing technology.Like sediments, Ruhr sandstone from Sprockhövel and recycled plastic from the 3D printer are layered on top of each other to form artificial structures. The artist links digital technology, through which plastic waste first becomes a raw material, with the traditional mining of geological resources. In this way, he also reflects the Emschergenossenschaft’s conversion of the Emscher River, which is shaping an equally hybrid landscape through technological and ecological interventions.
On the occasion of the completion of the new permanent artwork »Public Hybrid« we invite you to the festive opening on Friday, November 26, 2021, starting at 3 p.m. at the Bauhof (construction yard) of the Emschergenossenschaft in Dortmund-Schüren.
