Cycling to Art!

The cycling season on the Emscherkunstweg starts with guided art cycling tours on Sunday, 2 April 2023. Until October, one of the six different tours will take place every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month, each of which will lead to around five of the total of 22 works on the Emscherkunstweg accompanied by cycling guides. The routes are between 20 and 25 kilometres long and consist mainly of flat gravel and asphalt paths of the cycle path along the Emscher. At the individual stops, the guides provide information about the sculptures, thus combining a Sunday excursion with an enjoyment of art.

The »Zauberlehrling« (Sorcerer’s Apprentice) – one of the most famous destinations of the Emscherkunstweg.

A bicycle of one’s own is a prerequisite; electric bicycles are also permitted and can adapt to the group speed of approx. 14 kilometres per hour. The routes are rather unsuitable for racing bikes.
The various starting points are easily accessible by public transport, the journey to and from the event must be organised individually.

The Emschergenossenschaft is the organiser of the free art bike tours.
